A true head turner. The Toyota HiAce is the quintessential all-purpose vehicle from Toyota of Japan. Used as ambulances, vans, and as seen here traditional Fire Trucks. However, unlike traditional Fire Trucks, the Toyota's come equipped with a manual gearbox, a diesel engine, and four-wheel drive. Making this the perfect vehicle to tackle the rougher terrain of Japan's mountains and more remote locations. Compact in size, the Toyota HiAce shares the legendary Land Cruiser platform, known for its simplicity, reliability and ease of service.
This HiAce is in immaculate condition. All of the switches, lights, sirens, and more work. A built-in PA system functions just as designed, 4x4 shifts perfectly, all of the lights work, including the rear spotlights, side panel lights, and emergency lights. This HiAce only has 12,910 miles (20,778 KM) and is in amazing condition mechanically. Brand new tires and rims were installed recently that fit the truck perfectly. There are some paint chips and surface rust on the rear fenders (part of the fire truck bed) but it is minimal and would be easy to resolve. The rest of the body and frame are rust free which can be seen in the photos and video.
More recent maintenance was done by a specialized importer here in US and includes a comprehensive service inspection with a complete update on all maintenance items. This includes fresh fluids and filters all around, work performed on the front and rear brakes and a replacement of the timing belt. This totalled just around $1,500 for this complete service which includes the following:
