1969 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 404 Swiss Army Troop Carrier

Brought over to US by the licensed importer this 1969 Unimog 404 is titled and road legal. It has documented original 17,140 km which is 10,627 mi. Since in use by the Swiss Army it only had one owner in US who never exposed it to any heavy usage. It was more of a novelty vehicle for him around town and parades.

When we acquired this Unimog, it was in excellent mechanical condition including ignition system upgrade, new brakes, and new Continental tires. The cabin, interior and gauges were in pristine original condition. Canvas tops for the cabin and for the truck body were in like new condition. The metal body panels, the frame, and all underbody components of the vehicle were absolutely rust free, but original paint was weak and faded on exterior panels. Given overall excellent condition of this Unimog we decided to do a complete body work overhaul and turned this Unimog 404 into one of the best and most original ones that you can find.

After complete disassembly we removed paint from all body panels. We have done an extensive research and trials of various paints that we would use. The goal was to have durable non-marking finish. We end up using a truly outstanding product - a Military Specification AeroCoat paint system that is used in aviation, including for helicopter propeller blades.

Included with the vehicle are the soft tops for the cab and the truck body, HD tow cable, snow/mud chains. This is in addition to what you see on the photos.

It is offered in perfect operating condition, does not require any work. It is ready for any type of use: museum display, parades, off-road use (this would be unfortunate - we put a lot of work into it), commuter, commercial use, marketing use, etc. It will always retain the value, because of the originality, stunning condition and overall vehicle quality.
