GT package features added during the restoration! Fastback coupes accounted for less than 7% of total Mustang production in 1966, making them particularly sought after today! This car was restored in the 1990s and updated with fresh interior seat covers, carpets, and door panels 10 years ago. Freshly tuned up, this Mustang sounds as amazing as it looks, running through a Flowmaster header and exhaust system. MODEL SPOTLIGHT
This is the car that started it all. It started the Pony car class. It has endured as the top muscle car since its introduction. The first-generation Ford Mustang (produced from 1964 1/2 - 1966) is a legend that remains ever with us. Based on existing Ford mechanicals, Lee Iacocca led a lower, wider, better handling car to market with a distinctively American flair. A coupe, convertible, and fastback were available with a straight six-cylinder or the desirable 289 V8. The interior had room for four and featured front bucket seats and a floor shifter. The combination of performance and iconic style was exactly what was missing from the American automotive landscape.
The impact of The Mustang cannot be overstated. It was a hit from the moment it was released. 22,000 units were sold on the first day. 1.3 million would be sold in just 2 1/2 years. Rivals scrambled to design and produce their own Pony cars. It has been in continuous production since its introduction, now in its 6th generation. It has been a movie star, a performance icon, a race champion, a fun runabout, a family car. It has touched every facet of American culture. Everyone knows someone or has been lucky enough to own a Mustang.
HISTORY
Originally purchased by the selling owner from a well-known Mustang dealer & enthusiasts out of Ohio. This GT was purchased back in 2010 and has since been garaged and cared for ever since. Restored previous to purchase this Mustang is a wonderful driver's car. Get in and fire it right up. You will love the color and updated interior that was installed shortly after the Mustang was purchased in 2010. In addition to a new interior, the current owner also installed the Rallye Pack gauge cluster on the steering column and a new radio and speakers to compliment the amazing interior. This Mustang will make its new owner very happy, fun to drive, great to show, and a joy to live with. All maintenance and service are up to date.
CONDITION
This Mustang GT is in excellent condition. Exterior paint is in very good condition, showing appropriate patina in line with its restoration in the 1990s. Brightwork shows minimal patina for the year and mileage, and glass and lights are in excellent condition. The interior is superb, with newer carpets, door panels, and seat covers replaced ten years ago by the owner, along with a steering column-mounted tachometer and clock. All gauges function, as do all electrics and climate controls. An additional rear seat upholstery kit is included with the car. There are no strange odors in the interior. The underbody of the car is immaculate and mostly original. This car is mechanically sound with a fresh tune-up. The A-Code 289 V8 runs through a Flowmaster header and exhaust system that sounds amazing. The car starts quickly and is responsive to throttle inputs at all speeds. The manual transmission shifts positively through the gears and clutch take-up are reassuring. There are no strange sounds from the suspension and the Mustang handles as it should.
