WHY THIS VEHICLE?
This impressively solid 1972 Triumph Spitfire Mark IV is the perfect candidate for restoration or for use to finish your current project. This Spitfire runs, shifts, stops, and drives. The surprisingly clean body is largely rot-free, with solid floors, body, and frame. Exterior bumpers, trim, and wheels are in very good condition.

This Spitfire Mark IV has had just two owners since new. The most recent owner acquired it in 1981 (!) and collected an additional pallet of parts, including a steering rack, heads, and suspension pieces (included in the sale).

The current mileage is not accurate. The previous owner stated the mileage should be under 100k based on his estimate. This will be sold as a true mileage unknown vehicle.

MODEL SPOTLIGHT
The Triumph Spitfire was released in 1962 to compete in the burgeoning British small sports cars. Utilizing a shortened version of the Triumph Herald chassis and a gorgeous, aerodynamic body sculpted by famed designer Giovanni Michelotti, the Spitfire was an immediate success. Low cost of entry, competitive performance, and easy maintenance made it a favorite of enthusiasts for its nearly two-decade long production run. Numerous racing wins, including SCCA championships in F & G production classes, further cemented the Spitfire's bonafides. This 1972 Mark IV Spitfire benefits from the Michelotti redesign in 1971, featuring a fully tilting bonnet, full-width dashboard, tilting seats, and updated rear suspension that eliminated any rear wheel tuck-under during hard cornering. Spitfires are enjoyed today by collectors for the same reasons when new: low cost of entry, robust and readily available parts, and joyful handling. Whether working through restoration or tossing it done a two-lane, a Triumph Spitfire is a delight!
