WHY THIS VEHICLE?
The Moskvitch AZLK 2141 Aleko was a truly groundbreaking vehicle for the Russian automotive industry. It was the second front-wheel-drive hatchback of the Soviet Union, but work on the Aleko actually started before the VAZ engineers took the Lada Samara to the drawing board.
The Aleko had almost nothing in common with its predecessor and featured a number of advanced features for its time, including a MacPherson strut front suspension, torsion-crank rear suspension, and rack-and-pinion steering. It was also one of the first Soviet cars to be designed with aerodynamics in mind.
The Aleko was a popular car in the Soviet Union, but it was also exported to a number of other countries, including the United States. However, production of the Aleko ceased in 1998, and the car is now relatively rare.
This particular 1990 Aleko is in excellent condition and has been well-maintained. It is a great opportunity to own a piece of Soviet automotive history.
CONDITION
This 1990 Moskvitch AZLK 2141 Aleko is in remarkable condition. It is a strong running and easy to drive vehicle that offers plenty of room. The looks are both unique and futuristic for the time.
Mechanically, this 2141 is great. It is easy to start and easy to maintain. The interior is clean and neat, providing ample comfort and style. All of the buttons and features work wonderfully and as designed, including the very interesting button selector for such items as exterior lighting.
