MODEL SPOTLIGHT
The 944 is Porsche's most successful front-engine, rear-drive sports car. Originally introduced in 1982 as an evolution of the 924, the S2 (introduced in 1989) is the ultimate realization of the 944. The 944 S2 was powered by a 3.0L, naturally aspirated 4-Cylinder engine producing 208hp and was the largest 4-Cylinder of its time. Perfect 50/50 front-rear balance was achieved with a rear transaxle in lieu of traditional, front-mounted transmission, imbuing the 944 with exceptional handling. Upgraded for the S2, this powerplant and transmission allowed the S2 to achieve 0-60 mph in less than 7 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. This 1990 Cabriolet is one of just 449 units imported into the US that year.
